Hello!
I’m Dana, the author and impetuous creator at Remnant Design Company.
Along with my husband of almost 45 years, Larry, and our Japanese Chin pup, Aki, I live on Fidalgo Island in Northwest Washington State. We have all the joy of island life without the hassle of a ferry. We are one of the few islands in the state that is accessible to the mainland via a bridge that spans the scenic Swinomish Channel.
I love to create! It was once said of me that my brain has too many revolutions. That’s probably true. I am never without a project; in my head or in hand. I love to knit, sew, handcraft candles, and most of all, decorate. Therefore, I keep my husband busy all the time. I am the dreamer, but Larry makes those dreams come to life.
Our home, a small cottage built in 1952, is best described as a “modified Cape Cod”; a post-World War II American design vernacular that encompasses a wide array of variations to the original archetype. We bought this property primarily for the water view, but the cottage reflects almost 25 years of love and hard work.
Larry says about our house that it has been a rebuild and not a remodel. We continue to travel together along a path of projects with no well-defined destination. We hope you will join us on the journey.
